Why should I advertise or pay to include extra information when my Free entry does the job?
Exactly ! - especially if you have only one service and work out of one location then the single entry may do just fine. However, for example, many Professionals have "more than one string to their bow" and offer additional services such as Project Management or Planning Supervision, and many Contractors have Design & Build, Management Contracting or other Specialisims they might wish to promote?
Not everyone is searching this way but If it is not specifically mentioned then it can't be found using either the automatic or by any manual site search. Additional Entry PageWhy list all my business Locations when I have only one website?
When a search is on a general basis say "Architects + Bristol", then the search engine or a manual search will only come up with those that fit that criteria. A Practice with the entry e.g. "London + 5 UK (locations)" with an office in Bristol would not be found with that search. As you get approx two cities per line it therefore costs only an extra £5 (each location) per year to get each listed, plus you also will have extra space in the services section to can tell visitors about your other services. We believe that the Building Industry is definitely one industry where, unless you are very specialised, that a local presence is nearly always "essential". Additional Entry Page *or Banner Entry PageWhy are your charges so much less than compared to some other Construction Indexes?- The other main Construction indexes (which by the way are all listed on our site!) often have charges often well in excess of what we charge (e.g. Construction Plus is currently approx £300 per annum for a basic entry with a hyperlink). Our ethos however is to become the premier source for UK internet construction link information and so quite simply our charges reflect only our costs to include your extra details. We don't believe that many small and medium Construction related firms and organisations would countenance such high promotion costs for what must be an uncertain amount of visitors. Previously I had multiple entries and more than one line - where has this gone?
Initially we accepted multiple entries/lines without any payment, from now on however unless you sign up for additional lines or entries you are restricted to your one free entry/line. If you feel this has been put in the "wrong" category let us know and we will change it. Remember additional lines/entries only cost £10 per annum - so please consider reinstating your original entry? Additional Entry PageHow many names have you listed?
We are at present working towards the inclusion of every construction related business in the UK that has a website being included - (we think this is approx 10,000 names!) From our own research we believe that while nearly all the 'big boys' in all construction sectors have websites that over the whole industry that around just under half now have them, with quite of a few of the rest considering or already developing sites. It is no longer about being in the minority in actually having a site, but now about promotion of your site to the largest audienceSurely if someone wants to find me they will use a search engine? If they know your name perhaps yes, if they are searching a discipline or particular location they may not. ....and how good is your positioning on search engine listings anyway? Despite promotion services many search engines simply will not find your site - have you ever checked?. Our service will generally come up reasonably high on most search engines and will therefore be a fallback route to your firm if your own name doesn't come up.
I'm listed on my own Professional or Trade Organisations website - so won't that be enough? It is absolutely essential that you are listed on your own organisation's website (and which by the way will almost certainly also be listed on our site), however this only works when the visitor knows firstly what service he wants and that "your" trade website exists. We see our index as a complimentary to these trade websites and are always happy to direct visitors there. We can ourselves cover a much wider range of disciplines and specialisations and can be a 'one stop' for all your information rather than have you visit a large number of trade sites. Some sites are of course better than others in providing information on their members - there are even one or two who like to keep it well hidden -or leave you with the ominous - "There are no results that match your criteria"! - and "that" is extremely unlikely with us! - Additional Entry Page
For your money back guarantee for a banner entry - how do I know if you have sent me more visitors?
Probably you will know anyway from the extra enquiries you get from this route, though if you have a counter it can be confirmed that way - (the more sophisticated and expensive counters will tell you the referring URL). We hope you do monitor it, but look, we're really not going to make you document this - we will trust you - if you honestly feel it has made no difference and we haven't increased your traffic over the first three months then we will delete your banner and give you your money back without further question. So it could cost you nothing at all just to try it?

It is meant to signify that your site is "relevant" to someone surfing the UK construction Industry and while it is a link to us and 'perhaps' therefore an advert, it is more than that, in that it is a link to the global UK construction community. The more sites that in fact link to us then the more sites are in effect linked back to you! The internet is still mostly about reciprocity (despite what the big boys have you believe!) Remember our standard entry is still free and we make only modest charges for additional information.
The "Gold" and "Platinum" awards (available to those who include the banner) however have to be "earned on merit" for sites of "Special" Content or Design (or "Spectacular" in the case of Platinum!) See the Awards page
The banner you made for me is just a code and not an image? It is true that we have used an outside agency to create and host the banners (Xara Modules) for the reason that it saves on space and improves loading times. The code is available for you own use and will not be altered or used without your agreement and will be deleted on request. You are welcome to provide your own banners 468 x 60 pixel (animated or rollover possible) or you can sign up (free) with Xara Modules yourself www.zymodules.com - to create our own 'free' banner and then simply e-mail us the code.
What number of visitors can I expect ?
Well that is extremely difficult to say - Our page hits are steadily rising and while we are not in the high thousands (as yet!) our statistics are that all our visitors are Quality Construction Industry leads with each page receiving hundred of quality hits every day. ('Genuine' enquirers can receive more details on request)I just want a simple (free) entry How do I go about this?
Just go to the the immediate links page and insert your details -The update to the main site update will follow in a few daysWhat do you mean when you check my site every week? We use software to check every link every week. we review our reports and check manually any sites that have failed. (some failures are 'temporary' or down due to heavy internet traffic). If after 2 to 3 weeks there is still no sign of the site, it is then removed from the listing. If you are an additional service user we will contract you to let you know you site is down, and find out if the failure is temporary or down to a new site address or domain, which we can correct.
I see you sometimes use "construction-on-line.com" is this different?
No, - we own both domains extensions and either '.com' or '.co.uk' will take you to our website.I understand that I can also advertise on any page - not just above my entry?
Yes especially if you have an event or launch or you want to further promote you can advertise at the top of all or any specific individual pages on our site with your banner.
